MBA Arts and Design

Just think of a rock concert art. The band on stage may be the main attraction, but the success events such as these rarely happens without a lot of planning, budgeting and marketing behind the scenes. Major arts venues such as museums, symphonies, and theaters often require professionals with these skills throughout the year.
In response to a need for administrators in the arts, business schools - including UCLA, Rutgers, Illinois, and York University Schulich School of Business - concentrations of hotel deals in arts management and entertainment as part of their MBA programs.
"I think there is a huge benefit for arts organizations to be people of passion and management skills of the industry," says Joyce Zemans, Director of Arts and Media Administration MBA and MBA-MFA (Master of Fine Arts) double degree at the Schulich.
Zeman has followed the careers of many graduates of his program. Some are now directors or managers of arts and media in Toronto and elsewhere.
"They come in all fields, and work in all sectors," he says. "There is a museum directors, people in film, radio, entertainment, and music."Beyond Arts Management, a few new MBA programs, artists, were born in North America and Europe. These programs aim to equip people like graphic designers, producers, programmers and interactive skills in project management, setting their own activities or use land management position in a company or consultancy.
"Consultations are searching desperately for these people," said Nathan Shedroff, who chairs a new design strategy MBA at California College of the Arts (CCA) in San Francisco, which began earlier this year. "They are screaming for people to bridge the gap between design innovation and business."
Since most students come from a background, Shedroff program does not teach the nuts and bolts of design (layout, fonts and colors), but focuses on strategic planning and innovation management.
"Much of it is to help customers understand what is and what should be done, and be happy," said Shedroff.
The film industry is also looking for people with the rare combination of artistry and business acumen. Recently, two film school player in the U.S. - New York University (NYU) and University of Southern California (USC) - have opened their doors to students in business schools.
New York University in three years, MBA / MA, for example, shared-time students of management courses at the Stern School of Business and production classes at the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television. Meanwhile, the USC MBA students can take "Leisure Activities" course at the School of Cinematic Arts. Cass Business School in London has recently launched an executive MBA program specializing in the film industry.
Several other niche applications are there for people working in creative industries. Edward's in Austin, a New Media MBA program at MODUL University of Vienna.
And although not technically an MBA, SDA Bocconi offers a Master of fashion, experience and design management.Another trend is the spread of design principles in mainstream vocational training - the probable result of the demand for MBA graduates innovative. Both Stanford and the London Business School has recently created a new design or creating a focus on programs to promote innovation among their students. Similarly, introduced the University of Toronto's Rotman School DesignWorks, an infusion of "design thinking" in the theory and practice of business.
So even if it is not considered a creative person at all, if you run a business school in the coming years, could soon be asked to think like one.
